Nina walked slowly around the edge of the reed filled lake, her paws gripping tightly to the shoreline so she wouldn't slip in. "I hope I see Midnight!" Nina thought happily to herself as she stared out into the center of the lake. Nina had a soft spot for the dark wolf ever since they met, going out of her way just to get a glimpse of him. Like now, where she could have been doing anything. Nina had heard from another Crow moon wolf that he was down at the lake, so she had slid out of camp to be here. Nina had never been alone with Midnight, and her heart was silently praying that this would be the first. Srtriahgting up her posture, Nina looked for the familiar form of Midnight's body anywhere in the nearby woods or in the land between the lake and the woods. Nina wanted to impress him if she saw him, with her fur that she has made shine on the way here, and her decent posture, which she kept reminding herself to keep. A shape caught her eye, causing Nina to stop. where was the thing now? Oh well. But Nina did not continue walking.

An ebony-pelted wolf padded through the woods, going to the pond for a swim. Midnight was taking a break from life, not hunting or patrolling, but just hanging out. It was a warm day, and the water would be nice and cool. He halted his muscled frame at the edge of the forest, emerald orbs gazing at the glittering water. His eyes flickered over the bank, where Nina was standing. Instead of going right over to say hello, the canine raced for the water. He ran swiftly and smoothly over the turf, then launched into the air. Body making a graceful arch, he landed with a small splash. Surfacing, Midnight shook the water out of his eyes. Paddling over to Nina, he climbed out onto the back. "Hello Nina," he said with a smile.

Nina's heart began to pound as she saw Midnight running towards the lake. She felt extremely self-concious as he began to paddle toward her, almost certain he could hear her heart pounding. He was so handsome, his muscles rippling as he climbed out of the water, his fur slicked back to his body from the water. Nina opened her mouth to say hi back to Midnight, but no words would come out. Finally, her words returned. "Hey, Midnight. How are you?" Nina asked, her voice tranquil, as always. Her words faked her true emotions so well, was it wrong to lie to him about how she felt? Nina tried to walk a little more towards him, but her paws clumisly slid on the wet bank. Fear clouded Nina's normaly soft expressions as her body slid intot he water. Her paws flung out, trying to reach the sides or the bottom. Finally, her paws went into the circular motion of swimming, and her head broke the surface of the water. Air rushed into her lungs immediately, replenishing her own diminishing store. Whoops...
(I couldn't think of anything else, I tho8ught they needed to get to know eachother more before love was confessed, or something...)

The black wolf tilted his head as Nina's maw opened, but no sound came out. "I'm good," he said, answering her finally asked question. His mouth opened to say more, but before he could, the femme slid into the pond. Midnight's lean body tensed, ready to leap to the rescue if need be. Finally, after a few long moments, Nina's head broke the surface. "Are you ok?" he asked concerned. Well, duh, of course she's not, he thought sarcastically. Reaching down, he fastened his ivories lightly in her scruff, and tried to pull her up to the bank.
ooc: Okies.

Nina heard Midnight ask her if she was okay, but before she could answer she felt herself being lifted out of the dark water like a puppy. Nina ungracefully placed her four paws on the ground, tryi8ng to speak through fits of coughing and sputtering. Finally, the words, "Thanks" could be understood. Realization of the events that had just occured came over nina, ,and embarrasment flushed through her body. Nina could hear blood pounding through her ears, which were warm with embarrasment. "It was a slippery bank?" Nina said, trying to cover up for her mistake. There was no use in being embarrased, she thought, pushing it all away. A smile spread across Nina's gentle features as she looked up from the ground. Nina quickly pulled her paws under her body in a more graceful fashion, then waited for Midnight to respond.

Midnight hid a smile at the femme's embarrassment. "No problem. And yes, it's a slippery bank," he agreed. Moving away a few paces onto the grass, he shook his lean frame. Water droplets flew off his ebony coat, glittering like diamonds in the sun. He then flopped down on the soft turf, lean body stretched out. He soaked up the sun's warmth for a moment, the rolled onto his back to look at Nina with curious emerald eyes. "So what's up?" he asked, not knowing what to say. How should he talk to this pretty she-wolf?

Nina inwardly smiled, glad the handsome male quickly moved on from her unintentional swimming adventure. She lovingly watched Midnight walk away from the bank, and lay donw in the sun. nina attempted to hide the affection glowing in her eyes when he turned to talk to her, asking her what was up. Nina's normal personality flooded back to her now that reason for panic was gone. "Nothin', just falling into lakes and drowning untill handsome wolves come and save me," she joked, hoping to make him smile. Her gentle voice carefully pronouncing each word, as she always seemed to do. "How're you?" she asked him, in an attempt to find out more about him. Nina really wanted to get to know this wolf, be more than friends, more than just plain, normal friends.

A grin split Midnight's maw, showing ivory fangs. "Why thank you. I'm flattered you think I'm handsome," he said, part joking, part sincere. "And I'm fine, thanks for asking. Just jumping into lakes to save pretty femmes." He winked at Nina playfully, then rolled over, coming to his feet in one smooth movement. Stretching out his legs, one at a time, his muscles relaxed. He flexed his powerful shoulders, then shook out his pelt once more. He still didn't know what to say to this beautiful she-wolf.

Nina smiled in response to Midnight's joke. She watched as he stood up, all his movements fluid and gracefull, yet still remaining masculine. nina walked a few steps foreward, walking past Midnight. Then she turned her head and said, "It's a beautiful day," her voice calm and full of hapiness. The warm sun had already nearly dried off her fur. Nina turned her head to the sky and loked up, captured for just a moment by it's many shandes of blue and the soft coulds drifting past. Nina's gray fur absorbed the sun's rays, the heat warming her body to her bones. "You wanna go for a walk?" Nina asked Midnight, her voice sounding distant, her gaze never lowering from the sky. The sky never failed to amaze nina, with it's continually changing clouds and never ending shades of blue, that extends from one end of the Earth to the other, as far as the eye could see. Nina slowly tilted her head to view the sky at a new angle, her eyes passing from one end to the other of the never-ending sky.

Midnight's lean frame shivered happily as Nina walked past him. He had to stop himself from stepping sideways so that their coats brushed. Getting a grip on his emotions, he turned around to move up beside the femme. "I'd love to go for a walk," he said with a warm, charming smile. He then looked up at the wonderful sky. It was beautiful, but not nearly as beautiful as the she-wolf beside him. He wasn't going to say that out loud though.

Nina smiled happily at Midnight, the sun making her white teeth sparkle. He walked toward him, then turned around. The end result was her body so close to Midnight's that Nina could feel the warmth of Midnight's body, the texture of his fur. Her feelings toward this wolf she barely knew were odd, but in a good way. "How about we go this way?" Nina asked, her eyes staring into Midnight's. With her tail, she pointed toward a path that led into a shady section of the woods. It was so bright and sunny, the shade would feel good. Nina looked toward the spot she was pointing and closed her eyes. just for a moment, for a reason Nina had no idea why, but she did. Opening her eyes, Nina stepped reluctantly and slowly away from Midnight and began to walk toward the path. She gently flicked his shoulder with her tail as she passed him.
(I don't know, I couldn't think of anything...)

Another shiver ran through the wolf as Nina paused next to him. "Sure," Midnight agreed. The hot sun was becoming uncomfortable on his black coat. He followed the femme eagerly, quickening his pace until he walked alongside her. Matching his stride to her's, he stayed even with her. Slowly, he edged over ever so slightly. He did so a few times, until their coats where just barely touching. There, he stopped, not daring to move any closer. Nina might not like it, and he didn't want to make her uncomfortable.
((Me either.))

Nina smiled happiuly when she felt Midnight's fur bushing against her fur. She slowed down the pace, knowing Midnight would slow down when she did. "So... what else made you leave camp?" Nina casually asked, trying to start a conversation. The shade felt good as they entered the woods, protecting them from the strong rays of the sun. Here in the woods, it was quieter, more peaceful. Nina marveled at how she quickly changed from one place to another, such a big change. She quickly pulled ehrelf back to the rea;l world, where she was struggling to start a conversation with this handsome wolf.
(any ideas on how to make this slightly more interesting?)
