A small, grassy, hill rose out of the poppies. Atop this hill, a lone wolf sat, gazing at the glittering sky. Midnight stared upward, eyes wandering over the crescent moon. It hung there, casting off a silvery glow that sparkled on his ebony pelt. The stars glittered like diamonds strewn over a navy pool of water. Even as his frame sat motionless, Midnight's thoughts wandered about as if carried on a gentle evening breeze. It's so beautiful, he thought. Just like Nina. He sighed, thinking of the pretty she-wolf that had captured his heart. They had spent some time with each other, quite a bit in fact, but they weren't truly together. She hadn't said 'I love you,' and neither had he. Would they ever be mates?

Nina ran through the woods, her paws carrying her so fast she couldn't beleive it. The wind pulled back her fur, flattening it completely to her body. Finally, she stopped. Panting hard, she let her thoughts wander back to the hadsome wolf Midnight. she loved him, but did he love her? Nina shook her head. This was why she was out here! To get her thoughts off of the mateless wolf. the word rang in her head. Mateless. That was her, too. Not just Midnight. Finally, the thoughts became too much for her. She would find Midnight tonight, and confess her love. He wasn't in camp when she left, so that meant he must be out here somewhere. Her paws darted off again, so fast it felt like they left her body behind. where was this sudden speed coming from? It was so effortless, like she was flying. At this rate she would find Midnight in no time. Finally, she spooted him, staring at the moon while sitting on a hill. Alone. The sight of him being alone made her want to cry, for some reason Nina thought she would never understand. She slid slowly out of the shadows and whispered, "Midnight..." Her voice was so thick with emotion he'd have to be deaf not to notice it.

"Midnight..." The voice resounded in the night, like a long forgotten echo. It sounded like a whisper of wind on top of a still mountain, like the drip of water in an empty stone cavern. The ebony pelted wolf rose, going to the femme. She seemed agitated and tense, almost trembling with emotion. "Nina, what's wrong?" he asked softly, sniffing along her sleek pelt. Midnight was suddenly filled with fear, and stepped back a pace to search her beautiful eyes. "There's not been another death has there?" There were too few Crown Moon Pack members already. They could not afford to loose another.

Nina shook with emotion, her limbs unsteady beneath her body. Her fur tingled with feeling, every strand on end. "No, not that," she whispered to Midnight, her words dripping with feeling. She walked slowly and unsteadily toward Midnight, when she finally reached him leaning her body on him. She continued walking, then spun around and did the same on the other side. She stopped walking when her head was next to his head, and she could feel his warm breath. "Midnight, it's so much more than that..." Nina whispered. She paused, trying to make her voice steady and her body more stable. All her attempts failing, she whispered, "Midnight, I love you..." Nina stared up into the eyes of the hadsome wolf, the face she had gotten to know so well. The wolf she loved. But did he love her? "Oh, Midnight, I love you!" Nina said, louder. Tears formed on the corners of her eyes, threatening to bubble over.

Midnight watched the femme worriedly. Something was definitely up. Perhaps not wrong, but up. "Midnight, I love you..." He stared down at Nina, eyes wide with shock. She loved him. Nina loved him. Still stunned with shock, he gaped at her. Finally, it washed over him like a gentle wave. Lifting a paw, he brushed away a tear that fell onto her beautiful fur with a touch that was surprising gentle for such a large paw. When he spoke, his voice was soft and his eyes were calm and gentle. "I love you too."

Midnight's actions calmed her, they were gentle and understanding. But his words were the best. He loved her too. When the first tear fell, others followed, untill Nina could not stop them. Each tear fell slowly, rolling down her face and dropping onto the ground, the light from the moon making them sparkle. Nina broke her gaze with Midnight and stared at the ground, ashamed of something. "I'm sorry..." Nina whispred, her words, sad. Her shoulders dropped, and Nina onbce again said, "I'm sorry..." her voice was sadder than before, barely auidible. Why was she sorry? She loved him!

Putting his muzzle under hers, Midnight raised Nina's head so he cold look into her eyes. "Whatever for?" he asked softly. Reaching forward, he nuzzled her shoulder gently. "It's ok," the ebony wolf murmured. "I'm here. Nothing can hurt you while I'm here." He didn't know why she was crying, but she needed comforting.
((Sorry, no muse.))

Nina listned to Midnight's gentle words, understanding of their meaning washing over her like a wave.(I luvv the ocean) Finally, Nina was able to put a stop to her tears. She looked deep into Midnight's eyes, finding only truth and honesty. "You could've had somone so much better," she whispered, her voice thick with pain. Compared to some of the other she-wolves, she was hideous, why would he love her back. but then what had she wanted him to say, he didn't love her? Her feelings were coming all in a rush, confusing her. did she want Midnight to love her as much as she loved him, or no?
(Absolutely positively no muse. lol)

"No, never that!" he replied softly but forcefully. "I don't want anyone else! I want you. It doesn't matter what you think. I love you, and I stand by that. Nothing you can do, no matter how mean you try and be, I will always love you. To me, you are the best. Isn't that what love is?" Midnight nudged her gently with his muzzle. Why was this causing Nina so much misery?

Nina straightened her body, trying to get her emotions in order. She raised her head up to normal height, but her head was still below the level of Midnight's. "I-I'm just so overwhelmed by all of this information, a-and," Nina studdered, not sure what to say next. A sigh escaped her mouth, and she loked pleadingly up at him. Her eyes were begging him to forget, move on, even though she knew he wouldn't. "Let's... go back to camp, okay?" she asked him, her voice gentle. Now that she had told Midnight she loved him, she was very tired. Probably from all that running, she thought.

"All right," came the gentle reply. "If you want to." Midnight turned away, looking over his shoulder to see if Nina was following.
((Didn't have much to talk about. They're just going back to camp.))
